How NYTRAX Works
NYTRAX uses AI-assisted analysis, machine-learning-informed feature design, and track-specific performance analytics to bring more context to high school track and field rankings.
Inside the TRAX-Score
TRAX-Score is NYTRAX's overall athlete rating. It combines four supporting categories to describe a complete performance profile, not simply an athlete's best result.
Top-End
Measures an athlete's top performance level using their strongest scored marks. It highlights competitive ceiling and the quality of the best results within the athlete's event context.
A higher Top-End score indicates stronger standout performances.
Consistency
Evaluates how reliably an athlete produces quality results across multiple competitions. It provides a broader view than one exceptional mark and helps distinguish repeatable performance from an isolated result.
A higher Consistency score indicates dependable performance across the athlete's body of work.
Versatility
Examines the athlete's ability to perform across complementary events and event groups. It adds context for athletes whose competitive value extends beyond a single specialty while respecting differences between disciplines.
A higher Versatility score indicates a broader, more multidimensional event profile.
Big Meet
Adds competitive context by recognizing strong results in higher-level and higher-pressure meet settings. It is intended to capture how an athlete's performance holds up when the stage and level of competition increase.
A higher Big Meet score indicates stronger performance in major competitive environments.

A clear three-step framework
The public framework stays simple while the model architecture and feature weighting remain proprietary.

Standardize
Results are organized by event, gender, and season, then translated into Event Scores on a common performance scale.

Analyze
NYTRAX evaluates performance level, repeatability, event range, and competitive impact across the athlete's body of work.

Rank
Those signals are combined through a proprietary analytics model to create the overall TRAX-Score.

Compare across events
Select gender, season, event, and mark. The calculator assigns an Event Score and displays comparable listed marks across other events, without exposing the private ranking methodology.
