NYTRAX was created to bring a runner's perspective and a data-driven approach to youth track and field.
The person behind the platform
Coleman Ferrell
I competed in track and field at East Carolina University, where I graduated in 2023 with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mathematics. That experience gave me an athlete's appreciation for the details behind a season: the breakthrough mark, the consistency it takes to improve, and the context that can be missed by a simple list of results.
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Statistics and Operations Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I also serve as a graduate advisor for the Sports Analytics and Intelligence Laboratory. My passion is combining my love for running with my love for analytics to build better ways to understand performance.
NYTRAX brings those two worlds together. The goal is to give athletes, families, coaches, and fans a clearer view of youth track and field through meaningful rankings, comparable performance context, and thoughtful analytics.
